War tactics, occupancy and tension rise as China threatens Taiwan's independence.

A LOOK INTO THE CHINA/TAIWAN CONFLICT

Chinese Government Quoted Statement: “Taiwan independence is a dead end”.

Taiwan’s newly inaugurated president William Lai has called on China to stop threatening the island and accept the existence of its democracy.

He urged Beijing to replace confrontation with dialogue, shortly after being sworn in on Monday. He also said Taiwan would never back down in the face of intimidation from China, which has long claimed the island as its own.

China responded by saying, “Taiwan independence is a dead end”.

Opinion:

This war is a serious chess match that Taiwan is loosing. No castles, no knights and no hope

I’m going to be pretty honest. That was cold blooded. I don’t want to laugh because it’s not funny but China has actually been invading Taiwan for Decades. Taking their air space, land, international aide and more. China believes its unifying the mainland, but Taiwan begs to differ. This is no different then Russia Invading Ukraine (Minus the casualties). What is China’s claim to Taiwan?

SO WHY THE STRIFE?

The controversy surrounding the political status of Taiwan is an ongoing dispute on its independence. Currently controlled by the Republic of China (ROC). This dispute arose in the mid-twentieth century.

Originally based in Mainland China before and during World War II, the ROC government retreated to Taiwan in 1949 after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) won the Chinese Civil War and established the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in mainland China. Since then, the effective jurisdiction of the ROC has been limited to Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, and smaller islands.

Prior to 1942, the CCP maintained that Taiwan was a separate nation

CHINA’S MILITARY AGGRESSION

Want to know what China is up to? well here you go. China has stepped up grey-zone warfare against Taiwan, aiming to make the areas around the democratic island “saturated” with balloons, drones and civilian boats, a Taiwan defence ministry report said on Thursday.

Taiwan, whose government rejects Beijing’s sovereignty claims, has complained in recent years that China has been using so-called grey-zone warfare, which wields irregular tactics to exhaust a foe without resorting to open combat. the ministry said Beijing has launched “multi-front saturated grey-zone” tactics to harass Taiwan, including increased patrols of ships and planes.

Establishing Overseas Military Bases & Stealing Resources in the South China Sea

China has attempted to “increase burdens of our naval and air forces and to obscure the existence of the median line in the strait”, the report said, referring to an unofficial border between the two sides, which China’s forces have began regularly crossing in recent years. The ministry said Beijing has launched “multi-front saturated grey-zone” tactics to harass Taiwan, including increased patrols of ships and planes.

China has also incorporated research and militia vessels in a move to “disguise military activities with civilians”. China’s Taiwan Affairs Office did not immediately respond to request for comment.

To counter the Chinese threats, the ministry said it was working on measures to “preserve” its troops in the event of a war by boosting the resilience of its infrastructure and running drills to ensure Taiwan forces survive in a prolonged conflict. It also said it was drawing lessons from the war in Ukraine and the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

The ministry said it is stockpiling weapons and fuel to endure a prolonged war with China.

In a conflict, China will try to speedily seize Taiwan and prevent external intervention, the ministry added. To complicate that, the island is working to diversify its command systems and incorporate more mobile and long-range weapons, as well as artificial intelligence, while boosting “connections” with democratic allies, including the United States.
